Hydropower Services:
Harnessing the Power of Water
At Insight Energy, we're dedicated not only to solar energy but also to the incredible potential of a hydropower generator. The Coevo Noria Home harvests the kinetic energy in the pressurized water system of your home or business. Your town water typically enters your home at 100 psi and needs to be reduced by the pressure reducing valve to pressures that can safely operate within the distribution system (pipes) and appliances of your home. The Coevo Noria system installs between the water meter and pressure reducing valve typically found in the basement or mechanical room of your home. This allows the Noria to utilize the kinetic energy and convert it to electricity.
Once the electricity is created, it can then be utilized by your home. Best of all, the electricity can be net metered just like solar. And the Noria home hydropower systems qualify for a 40% Federal Income tax credit.

HydroPower FAQ
-
A hydro power generator works by converting kinetic energy from flowing water into electrical energy. Water flowing through a system, such as a pipe or river, turns a turbine connected to a generator. The movement of the turbine blades spins the generator’s flywheel, harnessing energy that is converted into electricity. This power can then be used on-grid to supplement a home's or business’s electricity needs or stored in batteries for later use.
-
A micro hydro system is typically placed in open water such as a river or brook and it is not pressurized. This is a key difference between the micro hydro system and the Noria Hydro Power System. And the Noria system is able to harvest the kinetic energy that is stored in a pressurized, closed water system.
-
The advantages of hydropower include its ability to produce energy constantly as long as there is flowing water, making it a reliable and consistent power source. Hydropower systems are also highly efficient in converting the energy in water to electricity, with some systems achieving over 90% efficiency. Furthermore, hydro generators have a long lifespan, low operating costs, and, unlike solar modules, hydro power is not affected by seasons or the weather.

Yes, hydro power generators can be used alongside other renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, or geothermal systems. In fact, combining multiple sources of renewable energy can provide a more balanced and reliable supply of electricity, as the various sources can complement each other's production cycles.
